Shadows of Passion: A Hot Romantic Thriller

 Part 1

Elena Voss stepped out of the rain-slicked streets of downtown Chicago, her black trench coat clinging to her curves like a second skin. At 28, she was a rising investigative journalist known for exposing corporate corruption. Tonight, she was chasing a lead on Nexus Corp, a shadowy conglomerate rumored to be involved in arms dealing.

The upscale bar, Eclipse, pulsed with dim red lighting and jazz. She ordered a whiskey neat and scanned the room. Her eyes locked with his—intense, storm-gray eyes belonging to a man who looked like he owned the night. Tall, broad-shouldered, with dark hair tousled just enough to scream danger and sex. Alexander Kane. Billionaire CEO. Enigma.

Their shoulders brushed as she reached for her drink. Electricity shot through her. “Careful,” he murmured, his voice low and velvet-rough. “You might get burned.”

Elena smirked, ignoring the heat pooling low in her belly. “I like the fire.”

They talked—sharp, flirtatious banter that left her thighs pressed together under the bar. He knew too much about her latest story. When he leaned in, his breath warm against her ear, “Let me take you somewhere safer,” she should have said no. Instead, she let him lead her to his blacked-out SUV.

In the backseat, rain hammering the roof, his hand slid up her thigh, pushing her dress higher. “Tell me to stop,” he growled. She didn’t. His fingers found her already wet, stroking with expert precision until she gasped his name and shattered. Their first kiss was savage—teeth and tongue, hunger unleashed. But as his driver pulled up to his penthouse, Elena caught a glimpse of a black sedan following them.

Someone was watching.
